Softaculous makes installing web applications quick. These steps install the miniBB forum.
1. Sign in to cPanel.
2. Click Softaculous Apps Installer in the Software section.
3. cPanel opens the Softaculous interface.
4. In the left column, open the Forums category and select miniBB.
5. Press Install.
6. Complete the Software Setup section:
- Choose Installation URL: select the protocol and domain. To install into a subfolder such as example.com/directory, type its name in the "In Directory" field. For the main domain, such as example.com, leave that field empty.
7. In the Admin Account section, provide:
- Admin Username: the new miniBB username (avoid administrator or admin for security reasons).
- Admin Password: a strong password.
- Admin Email: your email address, which is useful for password resets and notifications.
Note: Save the admin username and password in a text file; you need them later to sign in to the admin area of your miniBB forum.
8. Advanced Options: Keep the defaults unless you want to rename the database or schedule automatic backups. Frequent backups can use up a lot of disk space.
Lastly, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Install.
